Sneakersnstuff x Moomin x Karhu

Tove Jansson, creator of the beloved Moomins, would have turned 100 years old in 2014. To celebrate the anniversary of the famous Finnish author and artist a large amount of events, exhibitions and special products and collaborations have been launched throughout the year. The latest one is a sneaker collection, a close collaboration between Moomin, Karhu and Sneakersnstuff.

The Moomins has been around since 1945, when Tove Jansson’s first book about their lives and adventures was published. The books have since been translated into more than 40 languages and the animated TV series has aired in over 100 countries. Moomin is one of Finland’s greatest exports and the characters are recognized worldwide.

Karhu is another classic Finnish brand, which makes sneakers, tracksuits and other sporting gear. It was launched in 1916 and is known in the sneaker community for inventing both the three stripe design and air cushioning.

Sneakersnstuff is a Swedish store that opened in 1999. The store on Södermalm in Stockholm is heaven for sneaker collectors and regular customers looking for a unique pair of shoes. Sneakersnstuff has collaborated with a bunch of well-known brands, such as Converse, New Balance and Puma, for limited-edition designs sold exclusively in the store and on the Sneakersnstuff website.

- To be working with something iconic as the Moomins is a great honor, and it's something I'm incredibly proud of said Erik Fagerlind, Founder of Sneakersnstuff.

The Moomin x Karhu x Sneakersandstuff collection includes two versions of Karhu’s classic sneaker model “Albatross” covered in Moomin prints. It also features tiny Moomintroll silhouettes on the outer sides of the shoes. The collection drops June 14th in the Sneakersandstuff store and online.
