Special guests include biographer Tuula Karjalainenen and Sofia Jansson, Tove’s niece and now Chairman of the Board and Creative Director at Moomin Characters Ltd.

The Moomins were created by Finnish artist Tove Jansson almost 70 years ago. The white trolls inhabiting Moomin Valley are now a worldwide phenomenon and will play a starring role in the Frankfurt Book Fair 2014 program, together with seminars on their multi-talented creator.

Biographer Tuula Karjalainen will hold a lecture on the “Life and Works of Tove Jansson”, a special look into the life of one of Finland’s most appreciated visual artists, who was born 100 years ago.

Sophia Jansson, Tove’s niece, will share her personal relationship with her aunt’s most beloved adult book in “Tove Jansson: The Summerbook”.

Jansson was also a sharp comic strip artist, once published in 120 newspapers in 40 different countries, ready by over 20 million people daily. Michael Groenewald and Christian Maiwald discuss this work in “Companions for Life: Meet the Moomins”
